Lineage

The Polish Aikido Organization (POA) is part of the international Aikido family originating from the teachings of Shihan Fumio Toyoda (1947-2001). Our lineage connects us directly with Aikikai Hombu Dojo in Tokyo through the following chain of transmission:

Organizations in Our Lineage

AAA - Aikido Association of America

Founded in 1984 by Shihan Fumio Toyoda in Chicago. AAA was a pioneer in organizing seminars for instructors and introduced a teacher recertification system every two years. Main headquarters - Tenshinkan Dojo in Chicago.

AAI - Aikido Association International

International extension of AAA, associating dojos in 11 countries around the world, including Japan. Founder - Shihan Fumio Toyoda.

BAA - Bulgarian Aikido Association

Founded in 1990 by Sensei Edward Germanov. BAA is the direct heir to Shihan Toyoda's teaching in Europe. It organizes annual international seminars with masters from around the world.

Tendokan International

Founded in 2009 by Sensei Germanov as an independent organization directly subordinate to Hombu Dojo. The goal is to promote Aikido around the world in the spirit of Shihan Toyoda's teaching. POA is part of this organization.

POA - Polish Aikido Organization

Founded in 2007-2008 by Sensei Jacek Ostrowski, Sensei Sławomir Orłowski, and Sensei Oskar Szrajer. Continues Shihan Toyoda's path in Poland under the leadership of Sensei Germanov.

Our Dojos

Sesshinkan Dojo, Gdynia

Founded in 2003. POA's main dojo led by Sensei Oskar Szrajer (5th dan). The name "Sesshinkan" refers to "house of seeking the true mind" - a reference to Zen practice, which was an integral part of Shihan Toyoda's teaching.

Racibórz Aikido Center

Founded by Sensei Jacek Ostrowski (1972-2024) in his hometown Racibórz. Continues its activities in memory of its founder.
