Sensei Oskar Szrajer - Aikido instructor in Gdynia

If you want to know who teaches Aikido in Gdynia, what transmission line Sesshinkan Dojo represents, and what defines our club, this page brings together the key information about the instructor, dojo history, and the way training is conducted.

Sensei Oskar Szrajer was born on March 1, 1984, in Gdynia. He is one of the founders of Sesshinkan Dojo, a long-time instructor of the Polish Aikido Organization, and the person responsible for regular Aikido training in Gdynia.

Who is the instructor leading classes in Gdynia?

Sensei Szrajer began training Aikido in 1999 at the age of 15 at Wadokan Dojo in Gdynia under Sensei Tomasz Tyszka. There he met Jacek Ostrowski and the training environment from which Sesshinkan Dojo later grew. From the beginning, he developed not only technique, but also the culture of dojo training, responsible partnering, and long-term discipline.

A particularly important part of his development was his work with Shihan Edward Germanov, direct student of Shihan Fumio Toyoda and one of the key teachers in our line. This is why training in Gdynia is not a random mix of influences, but part of a coherent transmission described more broadly on our lineage page.

What kind of club is Sesshinkan Dojo?

Sesshinkan Dojo in Gdynia was founded in 2003 by Sensei Oskar Szrajer together with Sensei Jacek Ostrowski and Sławomir Orłowski. It is the main dojo of POA and an important Aikido training center in Poland, working in the line of Shihan Fumio Toyoda.

The name “Sesshinkan” refers to the idea of a house seeking the true mind. In practice, this means emphasis on technique, discipline, dojo culture, and development that goes beyond movement alone.

How are the classes taught?

Sensei Szrajer’s teaching is defined by technical precision, a calm class structure, and care for making students understand not only what to do, but also why. This matters especially for beginners, adults returning to movement after a break, and those looking for credible Aikido training in Gdynia.

We do not build training around sport pressure. We build it around quality of movement, partnering, ukemi, consistency, and responsible technical development.
